Your JBD smart BMS, on Wi-Fi and anywhere in the world

JBD boards protect a large share of DIY LiFePO4 packs and many ready-made batteries. JBD Monitor keeps them on screen all the time, not only when your phone is next to the pack: at home on your Wi-Fi and, through the free Cloud, from anywhere in the world.

Pre-configured for your model

JBD, short for Jiabaida, makes the smart BMS found in countless home-built packs and inside a good number of commercial batteries. The board measures each cell, the temperature probes and the current, and most owners read it through the Bluetooth app while standing next to the battery. That works for a check. It does not tell you what happened last night.

JBD Monitor stays connected to the BMS through RS485 and keeps the data in view: on its own colour screen, on a local web dashboard you open from your phone, and in Home Assistant. It only reads, so the protection settings you chose in the JBD app stay exactly as they are.

What you get

01

Every cell, all the time

Each cell voltage, with the lowest and highest flagged and the spread computed for you.

02

Charge and current

State of charge, remaining capacity, voltage, current and power, live from the BMS.

03

Temperatures

The NTC probes wired to the board, with an alert when they cross your limits.

04

Protections and MOS

05

Home Assistant

MQTT auto-discovery creates the sensors; a JSON API covers everything else.

06

Home Assistant automations

Your appliances run on the sun, by themselves

JBD Monitor tells Home Assistant when the battery fills up and when it runs low. Four simple rules, and the washing machine, the water heater and the car use your sun instead of the grid. Watch a day:

Simulation of a sunny day for a house with 5 kWp of panels, a 10 kWh battery, a car that needs 10 kWh and a water heater. The energy delivered to each appliance is the same in both scenarios; only the timing changes. Your figures depend on your system, your tariff and the weather.

See how the pack behaves over a whole day

The chart follows charge, discharge and state of charge hour by hour. With the cell spread next to it, you see at a glance whether the balancing keeps the cells together at the top of charge or whether the same cell runs ahead every afternoon.

With the free Cloud, follow the pack from anywhere in the world, compare weeks and export CSV files.

Your JBD BMS in Home Assistant, Jeedom and Node-RED

Cell voltages, MOS state, temperatures and protections become sensors, so your automations can step in before the BMS has to cut the pack.

    Ideas people set up first

    Know why the BMS cut

When binary_sensor.jbd_monitor_charge_mos turns off, a notification gives you the highest cell at that moment, the usual reason for a charge cut.

    Shed load before the cut-off

If the lowest cell falls under 3.0 V, the dryer and the oven are switched off on smart plugs before the discharge MOS opens.

    Surplus to the water heater

When the pack is above 95% and still charging, the water heater is switched on so the sun is not wasted.

    Cold charging guard

When sensor.jbd_monitor_temperature_1 reads under 2 °C, a heating pad is switched on and you get a note that charging may be limited.

The design is that of Pylon-Monitor, which already watches Pylontech batteries, with an RS485 / CAN board and firmware written for the JBD protocol.

    Questions people ask first

    Is it hard to install?

No, it is plug and play: plug the cable into the RS485 port of your JBD battery and USB-C into a phone charger, then join the box’s Wi-Fi from your phone to give it your home network. About a minute, without tools, app or setting changed on the battery. The box arrives prepared for your model.

Which JBD BMS work with it?

JBD smart boards with an RS485 port or the JBD RS485 module, including the UP16S inverter BMS. Tell us your board reference and cell count when you order; we test that version before shipping.

My board only has a UART connector. Will it work?

With JBD’s RS485 module on that connector, yes. Without it, no: the box reads RS485. Send us a photo and we tell you what you need.

Does it work on 12 V and 24 V packs?

Yes. What matters is the board, not the voltage: 4S, 8S and 16S packs are all fine. Tell us your configuration.
